UROC Board Member Openings! Today we will be high UROC Board Member Openings! Today we will be highlighting one of our positions that you can volunteer for at our upcoming AGM, Secretary. @backcountrymillhaus Brian Millis has been working hard as the UROC Secretary for the last two years. But now it's time for someone new to fill those shoes (we know that no one will look this good on a bike, so don't worry about having to check that box).

Along with some cheque signing, this position requires preparing the meeting agendas, taking the minutes, and some small administrative tasks that keep UROC in good standing with AGLC and other government departments.

If this (or any other Board position) sounds good to you, please fill out this form on our website UROC.ca (under events, 2023 AGM)

The UROC AGM is February 28, 2023.
Join us for the 2023 UROC AGM. We’ll be holding Join us for the 2023 UROC AGM. To help us properly prepare, please register for the AGM (link in bio)

If you are passionate about mountain biking and really want to be involved with UROC, we will have board positions open and will be voting in new members at the AGM. UROC Trail Report October 21st: Looks like mother UROC Trail Report October 21st:

Looks like mother nature is putting a stop (or at least a lengthy pause) on our #alltimefalltime riding conditions. Starting today we are experiencing some more seasonal weather of rain turning into snow over the weekend. This will be our last trail report of the season. Thanks to everyone who followed along for a great riding season.

If conditions improve we will let you know.

Just a heads up that Pass Powderkeg Ski Area is hoping to open for ski operation in just under a month, which means that they will be working on the hill getting equipment into place for the start of their season. Please avoid their work areas and machines if your are on the ski hill.

UROC will still give periodic uplates over the winter to keep everyone in the loop about upcoming events and projects, plus we will help promote other non-bike related winter activities that might be of interest to our members.

A big thanks to everyone who helped out this season, and a big thanks to everyone who came out to enjoy our new (and old) trails. We are very proud of the work that has been done to make this area a great riding destination.

Please tag us in your social media, so we can continue to share how people are enjoying the trails.

Happy Trails!

UROC Trail report October 14th: These reports kin UROC Trail report October 14th:

These reports kind of sound like a broken record, but we will keep saying it: the weather has been phenomenal and the trails are in amazing shape. We are experiencing a fall that feels more like summer and just keeps going.

I know many of our members are starting to think about snow sports, but until the ground is blanketed in snow, you might as well keep riding your bikes. It has been great to see everyone continuing to enjoy the Crowsnest trail network.

Just a reminder to everyone that the lodge level parking lot is as high as you are allowed to drive Pass Powderkeg Ski Area. If you are using the main road to shuttle up, please be cautious of other users on the road, and keep your speed low.

Happy trails!

UROC trail report October 7th: Happy Thanksgiving UROC trail report October 7th:

Happy Thanksgiving weekend to all of our UROC members! I think all of us can be thankful for a fantastic trail network and amazing fall riding weather. Mother Nature continues to keep the temperatures up, and the wind at bay.

This weekend will be more great riding conditions, so we are looking forward to seeing riders and their families out on the trails. We could start seeing more seasonal snow anytime, so get out and enjoy this amazing fall riding now.

UROC is also very thankful for all of the volunteers who continue to help make the Crowsnest trails and bike community great. A thanks to the trail builders, rider leaders, event coordinators, board members, and all the helpers.

The trails are all in really good shape!

UROC Trail Report September 30th: All time fall t UROC Trail Report September 30th:

All time fall time is hitting pretty hard in Crowsnest at the moment. Some fantastic weather this week, topped off with a bit of rain will make for some of the best riding conditions we’ve seen in a while.

A couple things to mention:

There is a new mascot/trail marker at the top of Pass Powderkeg Ski Area. Please pay him a visit, but treat him with respect. We would love to see your photos with this amazing carving, so please tag us in your posts and stories.

Also, the drop feature on Spare Change has some added decking, making it rollable. After consulting with PPK, we decided that instead of waiting for an accident to happen, we would add to the top of the landing so more people would be able to enjoy the trail and the feature. It can still be ridden as a large drop, but now you can progress on it. If you haven’t given Spare Change a ride yet, we highly recommend it!

With the two new trails still being fresh on everyone’s mind, we just want to remind everyone to be extra cautious while using the PPK road to access the lodge level. The preference is that if you are biking, you take the single track, to avoid traffic all together, but if you ride the road please be aware that you are not the only user. If you are driving up and down the PPK road, please drive slowly! There are multiple spots where the trails cross the road, and we are hoping that we never have an incident with a bike and a vehicle.

Finally, we only get a small window of amazing fall colours, and that time is right now! Get out and enjoy this beautiful weather while it lasts.

Happy Trails!

UROC trail report Friday September 23rd: Fall is UROC trail report Friday September 23rd:

Fall is definitely in the air in Crowsnest Pass. After enduring a sweltering August, and early September, temperatures have dropped significantly this week into the teens. Yesterday we saw significant rainfall, which will help bring the tackiness back into the trails.

We have perfect weather forecast for the next couple days, so don’t put your bikes into hibernation just yet. Fall time in Crowsnest can be some of the best riding all year, and with the right clothing you can usually ride until the snow starts to stick in mid-November.

We know that the new trails at Pass Powderkeg Ski Area have been getting all the attention lately, but don’t forget about some York Creek classics like School of Rock and Sooper Trooper!

UROC will continue the weekly trail updates until the snow flies so we can keep you up to date with trail conditions and what is happening in our area.

Happy Trails!

Last weekend's Poker Ride has provided an excellen Last weekend's Poker Ride has provided an excellent gambling themed segue into our next big event....a casino!

UROC will be running a Casino in Lethbridge on October 12 and 13 and we're looking for help filling some of the shifts. Fundraising for the bike club doesn't come much better than this as the dollars per hour are substantial. If you've been loving the new PPK trails, come help out for a casual day in Lethbridge, meet some other members, and jump start another great addition/upgrade to our growing trail network!

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Poker Ri Thank you to everyone who came out to the Poker Ride today!

We couldn’t have asked for a better day on the trails. Perfect fall weather and barely any wind.

A good time was had by all, regardless of what distance you chose to do.

We need to shout out the sponsors of the event:
@ascentcycle
@alpenlandskiandcycle
@crowsnestcoffee
@cf_adventurerlife
These generous people ensured that there was something for everyone.

Also a huge thank you to all of our UROC members. You have made this a very successful season on our trails. There was lots of help with trail days, events, group rides, and every volunteering opportunity. Plus, our members helped us get the word out about what was happening each week in our area. This season we have the highest number of paid memberships, and all of that gets out right back into future trail projects.

UROC is hoping for a bunch of great fall riding days before the snow flies, but we already see this year as a huge success.

Poker Ride Course(s): There are three options to Poker Ride Course(s):

There are three options to choose from. The long course (King), the shorter option (Queen), and the kids course (Joker)

These are the clues, and you can figure them out over your morning coffee. Use Trailforks to help you with the names. If you are stumped by the time you get to PPK we will gladly give you the answers at the UROC tent. All of the trails are in Blairmore.

The poker ride starts at 10, at the Pass Powderkeg Ski Area skills park parking lot. The event is free, but you must be a UROC member!

We will have a quick rider briefing about the day, and then everyone can roll out.

See you soon!

UROC trail report September 16th: The big news of UROC trail report September 16th:

The big news of the weekend is that on Sunday September 18th we are having our wrap up poker ride at Pass Powderkeg Ski Area.

The poker ride is a self directed ride where you navigate a variety of trails on the ski hill, looking for markers for each route. There are three routes to choose from, a King Route (long), a Queen Route (short), and a Joker Route (kids). We will post the clues for each route on Sunday morning, and if you are unfamiliar with the trails we will happily give you the answers!

The ride starts at 10am at the skills park parking lot, and we will aim for a wrap up and prizes around 3pm (or sooner if everyone is done). We encourage riders to bring food and snacks and chairs for being social after.

The poker ride is free, but to participate you need to be a UROC member. If you are not a member you can sign up at uroc.ca.

This will also be one of the last opportunities this season to grab some UROC merch, and we will have our tent set up after the event if you want to grab anything.

There is also a volunteer day with PPK on Saturday. Their crews are working to get the ski hill ready, and they are looking for some volunteer help for removing some deadfall and week pulling. The sign up sheet can be found on their Facebook page.

Otherwise, the trails are great at the moment. There has been a little bit of rain this week, with hopefully more on the way next week. It will be a fantastic weekend to ride bikes in Crowsnest Pass.

Happy Trails.

UROC Board Member Openings! We have 4 positions available, and today we will highlight the Treasurer!The UROC Board can best be described as a “working board”, with members expected to take on active roles within club. In addition to the fulfilling the administrative, decision-making and meeting requirements, this can involve things like facilitating and organizing events in the community, participation in trailwork days and fundraising through sale of merchandise/memberships.We are actively seeking someone to fill the Treasurer roll and help keep our finances in order. This is an extremely important position for the organization given our continued growth and venture into the territories of payroll, insurance, WCB coverage, GST and beyond. Our current and long-time Treasure/Board Member, Dave Whitten, has committed to work with the new Treasurer throughout the year in an effort to make the transition as seamless and relaxed as possible, so whoever takes this on will not be left on an island to just “figure it out”.If this (or any other Board position) sounds good to you, please fill out this form and let us know more about you. www.uroc.ca/board-member-submission-2023/The UROC AGM is February 28, 2023.www.uroc.ca/event/2023-uroc-agm/ ...
