2022

Starting in 2022 we started to expand our trail network. We built Electric Monkey and Nothing to Luge at Pass Powderkeg, adding 3.4 km of new trail.
Electric Monkey starts at the top of the ski hill and makes its way down to the parking lot lodge level of PPK. It is a fun, fast, trail that has small to medium jumps and features, plus natural, technical sections. Nothing To Luge is a progressive flow trail that starts close to the lodge and has a short climb to the top of the old luge track. It is a trail with berms, jumps and features from top to bottom. Kids Corner got some trail tune-ups, trails got raked, Knotty Flow got some tread repairs, and Double Dirt-spresso had some wood features fixed and re-built. An awesome crew of students from Livingstone School help build a rock retaining wall to widen a section Chainsaw Massacre, and to fix up some trail tread and berms. Spare Change got an upgrade to the wooden gap drop. We has some added decking, making it rollable. After consulting with PPK, we decided that instead of waiting for an accident to happen, we would add to the top of the landing so more people would be able to enjoy the trail and the feature. It can still be ridden as a large drop, but now you can progress on it.  Our trail coordinator, Amanda, has been out installing trail signs in the York Creek Area and they look incredible. This will be a great help to new riders visiting our area, and help everyone navigate where they want to go.

2023

2023 UROC scouted and build Bolder Dash, our first trail from start to finish by ourselves in the York Creek area, with the help from Board members and  volunteers. Starr Trail Solutions did a great revamp of our Skills Park. There is now a progressive drop zone at the west end. Plus all of the lips of the jumps have been reworked. Also much of the woodwork has been redone throughout the park. Our trail crew made a new singletrack entrance into Spare Change. The new singletrack at the top of PPK can also be used to access the alternate entrance into Buck 50 if you do not enjoy the usual rocky start of that trail.

2024

2024, Our trail crew and volunteers were busy this year adding a new climb trail, Highway Tree starting from the water tower to the lodge , then we added a reroute to ASG making the climb up to the top of the hill easier and faster. Now with the climb trail we can keep riders safe by keeping them off the road and safe, its also the fastest way up to the lodge. There is a new technical line that has been built on Spare Change at Pass Powderkeg, that avoids the long loose section that heads out and back on the Chinook ski run. It has a great rock roll, and is a very good addition to an already fun trail. Berm-Grim got a make over. The general line of the trail is mostly the same, almost every feature has been re-shaped, re-worked, or entirely rebuilt, making an old trail feel entirely new again. Sooper Trooper also got the three dirt jumps rebuilt that were badly in need of a tune up.

2025

2025, This season we had a lot of rain which gave us Hero Dirt for most of the year, but with that our crew spend more time then normal on trimming brush. Boulder Dash got a tune up by Star Trail Solutions. We kept the good parts and improved on the other stuff. Now it has great flow!!, York with a Fork and School Of Rock had a few jumps rebuild and features reworked. Just before the end of the season we got the new reroute of the Connector Trail from PPK to York Creek build with the help of Alberta Forestry. York Creek area had some logging affect some of our trails this year, so we had to add a new Sweet Duaneage route. PPK Trails had a lot of hours put in it this season, Nothing to Luge got a hip jump added to the table jump already there, a nice little option for the riders looking to increase they jump repertoire. Buck 50 had berms and jump upgrades. We also replaced some old rotten bridges on Double Dirt. Secret Trail got a tune up and a new drop.

At the top of Pass Powderkeg we installed a new bench next to the Monkey statue on Electric Monkey trail. The bench is there for people who knew Marten to remember him, and for those who didn’t know him to still have a moment to feel the impact he had on our trail system and cycling community. UROC didn’t know that it would become such a gathering spot when the Monkey was installed, with people taking group photos and hanging out waiting to drop into their favorite trails. Also, the climb trail from the water tower up to the lodge (known as Highway Tree) has been renamed to S’Marten Up as a tribute to Marten’s huge contributions to the construction of that trail.

We will always miss you Marten, but we will never forget you.

We needed help of a helicopter to place a second special memorial bench for Troy Misseghers at the top of Big Bear. We all know that a nice place to sit and catch your breath and take in the fabulous view, after the Big Bear climb was needed. Huge thanks to Gary Carpenter for making this beautiful (and heavy) bench. And huge thanks to Alberta Forestry and Parks for flying the bench up to Big Bear.
